Garden Party Purse

Here's the finished purse I showed a teaser for earlier in the week. Lined with a buttery yellow colored interior. I actually used a pattern for this one, though it was a pretty shoddy pattern. I'll be selling this one at the Cranberry Farms Boutique next weekend (more info on that to come).

Here you can see the side panel:
Here you can see the pleating in the front and back. Oh I should have probably taken a photo of the back, huh? Oh well.

Sneak Peak

Here's a sneak peak at what I'm up to. Sometimes I just fall in love with a fabric and I don't care what I make with it, as long as I get to buy the fabric. Fabric by Anna Maria Horner.

The Alexander Tote/Diaper Bag

So here is the finished product. This bag was a lot of work, but I think it turned out great. Anything with zippers just takes me longer for some reason, not to mention creating a new pattern.
So this bag features a split pocket on the outside front, and 2 end pockets on both ends. There is a large inside pocket with a velcro tab closure, and a zipper along the top to hide all that mess you've got inside. Made with chocolate brown polka-dot strap and red lining and sides and base. This is a very functional bag. I'll be selling this one at the Cranberry Farms Boutique in 2 weeks. If it doesn't sell there, I'll put it on Etsy.

Today's project

This is what I'm up to today. Finishing this bag. I started it with the idea of a diaper bag, but it could also be a tote or handbag. Idn't it cute?

Orange Dreamsicle Purse

I made another purse today. Eggshell white with orange stitching and orange interior. The interior fabric is by Anna Marie Horner. I wish the button was a tad brighter, but it's all they had in orange, and I love these giant buttons.

Birthday Fun

I've been on vacation for a week, so I'm now catching up. July 26th was my birthday, and it fell on a Saturday this year. So my coworkers/friends had an early celebration for me. Check out the cuteness and creativity of these amazing people I work with. I loved it!

And this is the card they made for me! It looks just like the purses I make! Amazing!

And mini purses with a surprise inside!

Another Purse

This one's for a friend at the office. Heather Bailey fabrics. My laptop at home doesn't have the best color, so I may have to color correct these later.

Inside has a pocket:

Paper Carrier Pouch

I had a request for a custom pouch that would be the right size for throwing folded papers into, for carting around. So I made this pouch, but I didn't allow quite enough seam allowance so the folded 8.5 x 11" papers end up buckling a little. And for some reason I was having fits getting the zipper right, but I finally got it.

Anyway... I'm making a new one, that will look just the same, but will fit the papers properly. This time I left plenty of room for seams, so the papers won't be scrunched at all. I just have to get the zipper into the new one now. Wish me luck!

Fabric is by Joel Dewberry.

Haunted by the past...

Ok, so a few posts back, I said the pouch I made was my first zipper I'd ever sewn. Well last weekend I discovered an old project from maybe tenth grade, which had a zipper. A back pocket denim purse, with a colorful (and ethnic?) side and strap. I'm actually amazed that I pulled this off way back then, even though it's kind of tacky. A little trip down memory lane...

Pouch #2

I made another pouch, for a friend. This one is a little more refined. Lining on the inside, sturdier fabric, etc. As I got half way into it, I wasn't sure I was going to succeed in doing the lining with the zipper, but it worked! Ta-da!
