I made this earlier this week, just now getting around to posting it. I just liked the fabric and it seemed to be wanting to be made into an accent pillow. I still have more of the fabric, but no more ideas of what to do with it. Anyway, I think it would be really sweet in a nursery, like on the rocking chair or something. I put it up in my Esty shop.

Ironing Board Custom Cover
My ironing board needed a makeover. I used a pattern that my friend Paula let me copy (she made it herself) and it worked out fabulously. Very easy to make. And this fabric goes quite nicely with my slate floors. You might recognize this fabric from the earrings I recently made, link here.
And as long as I'm in the laundry room, let me share with you one of my favorite things. When we built our house, we put a pass through door from the master closet to the laundry room. It's nestled in a shelf in the master closet and opens right over the counter in the laundry room where we keep our dirty laundry basket. No more dirty clothes in our closet waiting to be carted out for washing! You really should try and put one in your house, if it works, 'cause it's great! Here's the view from the closet side:

Apron Re-make
So I had this basic black apron from years ago, and I decided to spice it up a bit. I added a ruffle and gave it a new neck strap and side ties. Super easy. Total cost was about $2. I know it's not the greatest fabric, but I was too lazy to look for something better. If I get un-lazy I'll put a pretty pocket on the front later.

The Lunch Date Blouse GIVEAWAY!!!!
Ok, before you read this you have to promise to give it to me if you win it. A beautiful blouse by Kathleen Dougherty of Grosgrain. If I don't win it, I wonder if I could make something similar? If I did, I don't think I could give it away... Don't you think it looks so Anthropologie?

Baby's Formal Wear
Ruffles and tuxedo shirts are in for women, but here's a tuxedo onesie for the little ones. Finished it up today. (And sorry for the not-so-great photos). I think it'd be real cute for a wedding. Tuxedo onsie is available in my Etsy store (size 0-3 months). Blue linen pinstripe fabric.

Goal for 2009: Spend Less
If this is one of your goals for 2009, you can start by cutting up your plastic (and junk mail card offers)... and turn them into a mosaic mirror! (IKEA has these mirrors for $2.99 I believe).

DIY: Mod Hanging Light
I'm not sure what the deal is with the fruit, but this is a pretty cool tutorial with a template and step by step instructions. You could make this is big or small as you like. I'll have to add this to my list of things to make.

Fabric Paintings
A few weeks ago I made a couple of fabric paintings. I stretched fabric over a 6"x6"x1.5" wood frame (I made the frames myself and I'm quite proud of that), and primed and painted on it. One of these I sold already (had a cute french bulldog silhouette, pink and green color scheme) but I will probably make more. They are great for a baby's room--on a shelf or on a wall

Naomi Aspen Roma
On December 31 my sister, Jen, gave birth to little Naomi. Jen's husband, Ivan, is Italian and has thick black hair. My kids don't have even a chance of being born with this much hair! Isn't she precious?

Rose Belt
On Black Friday I was in Vegas with my lady in-laws and saw this awesome satin rose belt at J.Crew. It was $30 and though I was lusting, I wasn't sure what I had that I could wear the yellow and white with, so I decided to make my own. I bought 1.5" satin ribbon and sewed 2 strips together (right sides together and then flipped so seams were inside). Making the roses was pretty easy too. Just roll, gather, stitch. Total cost : $7 (with enough black ribbon left for another belt). You may see some of these popping up in my Etsy shop soon. Unfortunately the colors at the fabric store are limited, so I'm going to have to search further for nice colors.
