This is a little overdue, but I blame JoAnns for running out of ribbon. I had to wait until they got more of this wired dusty teal burlap/linen ribbon back in stock to finish the project. It was mostly done before Thanksgiving anyway....
This is a simple Thanksgiving or Christmas DIY door decoration. It cost me about $5. The ribbon I got at JoAnns with coupons, and I bought some circle screw-in hooks, that's it. The fabulous giant pine cones came from Ryan's grandparent's yard. They have a sugar pine tree (or two) that drop these giant pine cones and they are kind enough to share.
I considered dipping the pine cones in white paint for a more modern look, but they are pretty sappy and earthy, and for this I think I prefer them au natural.
If you want to try this yourself, its super easy.
1. Just use a small drill bit to drill a hole in the top of your pine cones.
2. Screw in your little circle hooks.
3. Tie on the ribbon.
4. Make some bows and glue them on with a hot glue gun, and away you go.

Chalkboard Painted Lids
Confession: I still haven't finished all my neighbor treats. But. I did manage to get a few done, including this one for a friend who is gluten-intolerant. She loves peppermint patties so I gave her a jar full of those. You could do hot cocoa mixes, cookie mixes, soup, etc.
I had bought some chalkboard paint for another project, and I still have a ton left over. If you want to do it, it's pretty self-explanatory. Paint the lid with 2 or 3 coats of paint and write a message on the top! You can decorate the jar too if you want, of course.
And a little tip I saw on Pinterest after doing this, you can sharpen your chalk in a pencil sharpener for more precise writing. Pin It

Halloween Craft #2: Sparkling Spider Webs
This is a craft that was inspired by a post on Pinterest. But I wanted to try it because I am lacking in decorations plus this was essentially a free craft since I already had all the supplies (which are cheap anyway).
Here's what you'll need:
1.wax paper or freezer paper with a waxy side (comes in larger size than wax paper)
2. glitter
3. glue-such as Elmer's
4. disposable box , optional, for controlling the spread of a glittery mess
Step 1: Lay your wax paper down on a flat working surface (inside your optional box).
Step 2: Open the tip of your glue bottle and start drawing a glue web.
Step 3: Pour generous amounts of glitter over your completed web, making sure every bit of it gets coated in sparkles.
Step 4: Allow to dry completely (this make take up to 24 hours). When dry, lift wax paper and shake off all the extra glitter (into your box, if you have one). Gently peel back the wax paper and remove your web. All done!
Tip: After a few more days the web does become brittle because it's just dried glue. So be gentle with it and keep toddlers away if you don't want it broken.
You can also do this trick on a painted pumpkin like I did a few years ago:

World's Best Pop
Here's a little glimpse of what the father in our house will be getting on Sunday. A collection of "Pop" items! Soda Pop (IBC Rootbeer), Popcorn, Pop-tarts, and a Blow Pop lollipop.
Wrap it all up and throw a ribbon on it, and there you go. A sweet little treat for your special Pop.
(To make the label, take a 1" x 12" strip of scrapbooking paper and fold it in small accordian folds. Glue the 2 ends together with a hot glue gun. The center part is just printed on a color printer and punched out with a scallop circle craft punch. Flatten your accordian folded paper into a circle and hot glue the scallop circle label onto the center. Then just glue it onto a cute ribbon and drape it over your bag of goodies.) Pin It

Easter Crafting: Marshmallow Bunny Plushies
My hubby is a big fan of Peeps, so I might just have to make one of these for him for Easter. They are so cute I want to make one for everyone I know. (And there's a full tutorial!) Thanks for sharing, Dandelions & Lace!

Upon a Fold
Do you like paper? How about origami? How about amazing things? 'Cause this is waaaay beyond origami if you ask me. Behold, Upon a Fold!
These paper vases are shapable and stampable, not to mention A-mazing.
And I'd love to get this paper piano for my sister, the pianist.
I think everyone needs a cupcake stand—or two or three.
And what a lovely way to send some love.

DIY Paper Cup Wreath
I see a lot of crafts in the blogosphere that I think, "That looks okay in the photo but in real life I think it would look cheap." But here is one craft that is cheap but I think real life (and in the photo) would actually look pretty darn cool. What do you think?

Custom Letter
Did you think I died? Nope, I'm still here. Just keeping very busy.
Here's a great tutorial on how to customize a paper mache letter to the font of your choice, because the options at the craft store are a bit ordinary.
From Zan at Me Like Stuff. And while I was there, I also so a fun tutorial on how to customize your Chucks. But what I love is the background--the green wall with all the frames on it. Fabulous.

Fresh Steps
These shoes were in the D.I. box, until I saw some super cute shoes on some site I no longer recall. But it gave me an idea. These shoes may have a little life in them yet!

Pretty Rubber Gloves
Another item for the list of Things I'd Like to Make But May Never Get To: Prettied up rubber gloves. I first got the idea from these I saw at Hip & Humble in SLC (sorry for the blurry phone pic).
These ones are from Fresh Studio on Etsy.
Here's how I'd do mine.
Rather than using oilcloth or vinyl, I would take a cotton fabric (like for quilting, nice and lightweight) and do the iron-on vinyl. It's not as heavy that way, so it would stay up. I've seen some done with pleats all around (Gloveables), but I would keep mine simple and just do it straight so it would hold up instead of flopping over. I've seen some with ruffles around the vinyl too, which is way cute. I think I would look forward to cleaning if I had some darling gloves to wear!
